(2:57) Captain Paul Watson starts us off with updates from Sea Shepherd missions from around the world which leads to a deeper discussion of what's happening for The Sharpie off the coast of Mexico where Vaquita rescue is happening. Following is news from the Sam Simon which is working to bring attention to the mistreatment of dolphins off the coast of France, and the upcoming films featuring Captain Paul Watson including Sea of Shadows, Watson, Seaspiracy, and Chasing the Thunder. Final news out of the Japanese Whaling fleet and how there will no longer be commercial whaling in the southern hemisphere from now on. (19:40) Jana introduces Abraham Stern, who is Captain Paul Watson's attorney from Costa Rica who has been successful for justice for Paul. Abraham shares the story of Paul's warrant for arrest in Costa Rica for being falsely accused of killing local fishermen and how he personally put his career on the line to win this case. It's a story right out of Hollywood. Stern also goes into detail what this victory means for Captain Paul Watson and future plans to devote a statue to him & his work for saving Sea Turtles. Captain Paul talks about the depleted Herring populations in our oceans, one of the main sources of food for many of the wildlife on land & in oceans alike. Jana catches up with Paul about the exciting news out of Costa Rica & reminds us of Operation Jiro who worked to save sea turtles, but was killed in action. (2:17) Captain Paul Watson, on the road to New York with his family this week, is joining us with news from Sea Shepherd's latest efforts which include the upcoming release of a the 2 documentaries featuring himself, and updates from the vessel, the Sam Simon which still working to relieve dolphin slaughter by getting ahold of local media hoping to shut it down. After Sea Shepherd updates, the remaining time with Captain Paul is spent answering questions from our co-hosts. (8:21) ThatVeganWife asks the question after watching documentary, Eating Animals, which addresses the issue of Animal Agriculture and the pollutants that are put into our waters because of it. Captain Paul expands on what is actually being dumped in the ocean, if there is any action being taken to keep this from happening, and how the documentary Cowspiracy is working with him in the upcoming film, Seaspiracy. (16:17) ThatVeganWife introduces this week's guest, Stephanie, recipe creator & photographer from which is a Italian Vegan Recipes Blog while helping people break the vegan myth that, "you must sacrifice tradition,” while providing plant-based Italian options for the vegan community & beyond. Stephanie shares with us the PastaBased story, how her & her boyfriend decided to go vegan (thanks to the film, Conspiracy), what inspired the blog, and what she would say to beginner vegans out there who are having a difficult time having a difficult time in thinking they have to give up their tradition.
